This post should be much shorter than last week! I had a great first day of school at Tsukida on Thursday and I'm excited to be working here all this week. After leaving school last week I went to Huis Ten Bosch. It's a beautiful faux-European park with many different areas. There were shows and attractions and everything was incredibly fun! We saw taiko drummers on Thursday and singers and dancers on Friday. I'm really glad we stayed over night because they light up the whole park. There were millions of lights and decorations throughout the park. They even had electric tulips next to the real ones that light up in time to music. It was a great few days!
Friday night we came back to Kokura for a gyoza dinner at Testunabe. Some friends of mine came with us and we had a delicious dinner. Afterwards, Mom came back to my place with my friends and we had some dessert and some drinks.
I spent Saturday mostly packing up my winter clothes and other things I won't need to send back to America with my parents. We met up with my parents for dinner and went to Mojiko to try their famous dish, yakicurry. we also tried a dessert banana and chocolate pizza that was surprisingly good! We walked around Mojiko a little bit and saw Bananaman before heading back to Kokura.
Sunday we sent my packed bags off to Narita in the morning before having breakfast. Mike and I said goodbye to my parents and we headed into Hakata while they headed north to Kyoto. Mike flew out of Fukuoka airport around noon and I headed home to clean and get reorganized. It was so great seeing everyone, but it was also nice to have a quiet afternoon to myself. I got a lot done and will be glad to have a quiet few weeks.
